Lightning vs AFC

Game Summary

This was the start of a huge weekend for us.  Going into this weekend, Lightning was sitting on top of the league with a record of 5-0-1.  AFC was right behind with a record of 4-0-2 followed by Twin Valley 4-1-1.  This weekends game would decide the fate of the league this season.  We were again missing some players.  Tough to be missing so many players, but AFC was also missing players.  Started in the 3-2-2-3, the formation we worked on for the past three games just for AFC.  Hayden, Levi and Alex were the starting striker backed up by Dante and Gavin.  Top of the castle was Aiden and Sterling with Jamol in reserve.  Base of the castle was Nick, Connor and Jake, with Ryan in reserve.  The midfielders did a great job finding the seems in AFCs defense and the strikers found home early and often, setting the tone of the game early.  AFC midfielders pulled back to defender their net hard, limiting their offense.  The castle worked out great to control AFCs pushes and Rowan played well to keep the net clean in the first half.  After going up 4-0 in the second half, we fell back to 3-2-3-2 and AFC really dialed up the pressure.  After AFC scored, I pulled the boys into a 3-3-2-2 to seal the game. Final score 4-1 and a great win for the team.  Looking ahead to tomorrow’s game, Twin Valley won their game today also to advance to 5-1-1.
