Lightning vs TWI
Game Summary
Even though we beat Twin Valley fairly soundly in our last game, I was very nervous about this game. TWI showed up with a large roster and even their old head coach came to the game. We were going to be down players again, and Gabe and Alex were going to be late to the game. The good news is Austen was making his first appearance, so missing players was offset a bit. We started in a 3-2-2-3. Austen played on fire, creating an opportunities for himself and the team. His pace of play and the way the attacking 5+2 moved the ball stressed TWI defense a ton. Gabe and Alex finally got to the game and were not only needed for fresh substitutions, but also created more tempo change in the game. The castle again held the opposing team to limited attempts and kept the net clean to help make it 4-0 in the first half. We switched to a 3-2-3-2 in the second, and still kept the tempo high. The castle got lazy and failed once, allowing TWI’s Paddy to drive the field, beating 3 defenders and the goalie to score. The attacking 5+2 responded quickly, putting the game out of reach. With 25 minutes to go in the game, switched to a 3-3-2-2 and with 15 minutes left to o in the game, pulled a player after we scored again. This was a statement win for the team, securing first place and moving to a record of 7-0-1 with one game to go!!
